Zimbabwe Mission Update
As many of you know, AJ Nadeau, Matt & Kaitlyn Tebordo Wood, and Abigail Tebordo left JFK on their way to Kuwadzana last Sunday, December 28th, at 5:20 pm. After traveling nearly 21 hours (with all but 1 1/2 hours spent inside of the airplane)they reached Harare safely and were through customs & resting in Kuwadzana shortly afterward. Although they were jet lagged at first, the trip has been a resounding success. Your auction funds and generous donations of cash, personal hygiene supplies, and first aid items were hand-delivered to Jonnah for the starving widows and children, as well as other community members served by our sister church. Our group has received a warm welcome, with much joy and sharing of teaching, music, and conversation all around. During the day, the group has morning services with worship led by Matt and teaching divided among the group members, then Kaitlyn and Abigail are teaching the children while AJ & Matt meet with the elders and deacons to offer leadership training.
So far they have not spent much time visiting in the community because Jonnah is concerned for their health with the cholera epidemic that has plagued Zimbabwe in recent months. He is an excellent host and has taken every precaution possible to ensure their health and safety--our loved ones are in good hands!
The group will travel to the Great Zimbabwe next week, and then will leave to return home on the 12th (arriving at JFK on the 13th around 7 am!).
Continue to pray for all four of our missionaries as they share the love of the UCC congregation with our brothers and sisters in the Kuwadzana Presbyterian Church--they need to stay healthy and safe, and the people of Kuwadzana need this reminder that they are loved, vital, valuable members of Christ's body.
